The Study on Present Diet Managements by the Diabetic Patients


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the practice and the awareness of the diabetic patient about Diet Therapy in order to know his or her need of diet teaching.
With this purpose, this study was conducted by having personal interview with a designed questionnare to the 150 out-patients of Seoul National University Hospital during the period of November 1979 to December 1979.
The Results obtained were summarized as follows;
1. There were significant relationships between the type of selected treatments of Diabetus Mellitus and the duration of having disease and any complications. (p<0.01, p<0.05)
2. There was a significant relationship between the patient¢¥s satisfaction of the required calories for DM and their activities of taking calories practically (p3. There was a significant relationship between the method of control of D.M diet and the body weight of a patient. (p<0.05).
4. Among the ways of getting information on DM diet, 66% was found through reading a book or a magazine.
5. Through this study, it was found that a nurse should teath the D.M. diet more properly with her profund knowledge and active professionl aittitude.
